Abstract (EN)
In streaming video over the Internet, the DASH standard (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP) has become the most popular online technology. The most important component of DASH client software is the rate adaptation algorithm. It is possible to increase the users' video playback time, experience quality parameters such as video stop and replay with an effective written rate adaptation algorithm is presented. In this thesis, a rate adaptation which is entitled as "BOOST" is used to calculate the maximum bit rate and minimum download process by using MPD files with different segment lengths, taking into account buffer size and segment sizes, in order to provide the best monitoring quality (best QoE) to users under variable network conditions. In the developed BOOST speed adaptation algorithm, a different approach than the other rate adaptation algorithms in the literature, which determines the display quality according to different segment lengths in the same system, has been exhibited. Within the scope of the rate adaptation algorithm developed, optimization studies have been carried out to ensure fair bit rate sharing between clients and to exhibit stable behavior during video playback. In addition, a new approach has been proposed on service differentiation that takes advantage of different segment time lengths. Accordingly, while a set of different segment lengths of bandwidth is opened for paid users, free users are only allowed to select from the standard minimum segment length. Tests have shown that this approach enables targeted service differentiation between paid and unpaid user classes. In order to evaluate the studies, comparisons were made between the algorithm developed under variable bandwidth conditions and other popular rate adaptation algorithms. The results showed that the BOOST algorithm achieved a higher bit rate than the other algorithms in the presented video quality and avoided video pauses. Generally, it has been concluded that the algorithm performs more in the case of bottleneck bandwidth in video streaming over the internet and is more advantageous.
