Abstract (EN)
The title of this dissertation is ?Textlinguistics as a New Discipline and aTextlinguistic Approach to Turkish Literature?. This dissertation aims to investigate theapproach of textlinguistics to literary text and the applicability of textlinguistics on literarytext.Literary text is area of subject of literary study in asmuch it is the object in whichthe literary phenomenon occurs and is the area of subject of textlinguistics inasmuch itis the object in which language is organized in a special way.The aim of this study is to explore the development of textlinguistics, to searchthe criterion of textuality and to investigate the applicability of textlinguistics on literarytexts. From here, the textlinguistic analyses made in this study are not considered as anew method of analysis but as a contribution to the understanding the literaryphenomenon and to the anlaysis of literary text. The scope of this study is limited to the history of textlinguistics, the maincharacteristics of textlinguistics, the reflection of textlinguistic concepts and theapplication of those concepts to literature. We tried to apply a synthesizer approach while preparing this thesis. We, first, collected printed and published resources and then constructed the conceptual basis ofthis study to show the effectiveness of it, by applying the theoretical basis to differentliterary texts. We determined four literary texts for this study. ?Bulevard of Fogs?, a poem, byAttila İlhan; ?A Miraclous Train?, a short story, by Sait Faik Abasıyanık; TheDisconnected, a novel, by Oğuz Atay and The Epic of Keşanlı Ali, by Haldun Tanerwere picked for textlinguistic analyses. At the end of our analyses, it was understoodthat a literary text is a whole whose different parts interact within eachother in acoherent way and to be able to undersand the literary phenomenon, one has tounderstand these interactions within the literary text.Key Words:Textlinguistics, Literary Text, Criterion of Textuality, Cohesion,Coherence, and Intertextuality.
