Abstract (EN)

Determination of Blood Levels of Some Endocrine Disruptors in Cryptorchidic Newborns Due to the intensive usage in all over the word, organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) is said to be that have played an important effects in the last few decades in our environment on the wild life and daily life on human health. There are an increasing number of data available about toxic effects of these chemicals, known as persistent organic pollutants due to the hormone-like effects upon organisms on their development, growth, and reproductive health. A number of epidemiological studies showed that during the past 50 years male reproductive health is influenced by a variety of reasons with especially the reduction in the number and quality of sperm in the male reproductive system malformation of organs (such as cryptorchidism and hypospadias) with increased rates of the incidence of testicular cancer cases observations indicate the status byself. Cryptorchidism is a male reproductive health problem of the condition of undescended testis that not being able to move to one or both testes into required position suggested to be increasing in developed countries. The aim of this study was to determine the levels of 29 OCPs and 18 PCB congeners in blood samples of healthy (n=38) and cryptorchidic (n=20) newborn babies and their respective mothers. Pentachlorobenzene, 4,4'-DDD, 2,4'-DDD levels in the blood of mothers of newborns diagnosed with cryptorchidism are statistically higher than healthy group mothers (p=0.0032; p=0.0496; p=0.0284 respectively). PCB 180 (p=0.0199), ß-BHC (p=0.0077), ?HCH (0.0079), hexachlorobenzene (p=0.0020), ?DDT (p=0.0019), 4,4'-DDT (p=0.0092) and 4,4'-DDE (p=0.0025), cis-heptachloroepoxide (p=0.0025), dieldrin (p=0.0113) blood level of cryptorchid diagnosed children were found to be significantly higher when compared with control group childeren blood levels. (p=0.0199; p=0.0077; p=0.0079; p=0.0020; p=0.0019; p=0.0092; p=0.0025; p=0.0025; p=0.0113 respectively). Keywords: blood, newborn, cryptorchidism, OCPs, PCBs.
