TRT archive website as an example of cultural memory in new media (www.trtarsiv.com)

A society with a common culture only exists with its past. The common culture formed has a social memory. This memory, which keeps the society's past alive, creates a common thought and awareness. Cultural memory, which has been transferred to the present day by taking strength from the past of the society, has special and different means of transmission in every period. The new media, which has become the transmitter of many things in the digital age, also has an important place in the transfer of cultural memory. Cultural memory, which has different and special transmitters in every period, is transferred to future generations with new media in the digital age. In this study, the factors that make the new media important in the transfer of cultural memory will be emphasized, and an evaluation will be made about how the transfer of cultural memory takes place with the TRT Archive website. In this study, which is based on the concept of cultural memory, the phenomenon of cultural memory; social memory has been discussed in line with the elements of memory and remembering. The purpose of this research; The aim is to reveal how the TRT Archive website, which is an example of cultural memory in the new media, realizes the transfer of cultural memory. In this context, how TRT Archive website made this transfer has examined. TRT Archive website has been evaluated within the framework of cultural memory by using content analysis method. In the study, it was concluded that the TRT Archive website is an example of cultural memory in new media.
