New generation motherhood and new media: Blogger mothers example

Abstract (EN)

The continuity of society and the transfer of culture is ensured through the continuation of the generation. Having children and maintaining generations is one of the cornerstones of society and culture. The role of motherhood and responsibility for having a child has necessarily produced a gender imbalance. In other words, while having a child is valid for both men and women, motherhood has a more prominent role in the case of having a child, depending on both human nature and the impact of culture. Nowadays, the acceleration of media and communication technologies enables individuals to gain more place in the production of media practices with new media technologies as opposed to traditional media. Under the influence of popular culture, new generation mothers are now involved in the reproduction of the role of motherhood and also the initiator of a different socialization process through the use of social media. In the thesis, the relationship between new generation motherhood and new media has been put forward through the role of social change, and the socialization process of the mother has been analyzed in the perspective that extends from public to private. This new socialization process is provided through social media. In this context, the blogs and shares of the four most followed blogger mothers were examined with discourse analysis in order to reveal the situation in question. As a result of this review, the similarities and differences of blogger mothers selected at this point can be summarized as follows. Similar features of sample blogs: Sharing about their own motherhood and children, their aim is to attract the attention of followers and increase the number of followers, support new mothers with knowledge and experience, blogger mothers usually ended their career after having children, they use their blog as socialization and second career development, they are sensitive about introducing themselves, they use sincere language towards their followers, focus on children's issues, they use blogs for product marketing Sample blogs have different features: One in four blogs (Teknolojik Anneler) generally share technological products, two out of four blogs (Annekaz and Şafağın Dünyası) have shared posts on social responsibility projects, one in four blogs (BlogcuAnne) shares the family life more openly in her blog, one of the four blogs (BlogcuAnne) provided the opportunity to share articles on the blog as a guest writer in a special section, one of the four blogs (the blogger mother) published her book about her life
