Abstract (EN)
In this work, Ti/Si/C powders were sintered under argon atmosphere by pressureless sintering method. Sintering was also carried out at different temperatures and durations. Thus, the effect of Ti3SiC2 formation at different temperatures and durations was investigated. For this purpose, mass loss / increase of sintered samples were measured, XRD and SEM analyzes were performed. As a result of the work, formation of Ti3SiC2 was observed. Ti3SiC2 formation effect was observed in the temperature, the time of sintering and the incorporation of stoichiometric excess carbon in the starting mixture. TiC and SiC compounds were formed by decomposition of Ti3SiC2 formed by excess carbon, temperature and time effect. As a result of the XRD investigations made, temperature, time, excess carbon in the structure and used graphite crucible cause effect the formation of Ti3SiC2. Ti3SiC2 formation was observed in the samples obtained as a result of the pressureless sintering in the 2-4 hour sample at 1300˚C and in the sample sintered at 1350˚C for 4 hours. C, TiC and SiC have been found at temperatures of 1400-1500 °C.
