Abstract (EN)

In this study, phenol based of Schiff bases were synthesized from condensation of 4-hydroxysalicylaldehyde with diamines as p-phenylenediamine, ethylenediamine, o-phenylenediamine. The synthesized Schiff bases were polymerized by oxidation polycondensation reaction with NaOCl as an oxidant in an aqueous alkaline medium at 90 oC. The metal complexes of these synthesized compounds having ligand character were isolated with transition metals (Co, Mn). The structures of the compounds were determined by UV-Vis, FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and elemental analysis. The number average molecular weight (Mn), weight average molecular weight (Mw) and polydispersity index (PDI) values of polymers were found by GPC method. Also, polymer -metal complexes were characterized by FT-IR, UV-Vis, TG-DTA and Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). It was estimated that the synthesized compounds might be used as catalyst. They can be used as catalysts for the epoxidation reactions of alkenes.
