A research on the syllabus of the 6th grade social studies subject as a political text in the context of reconceptualism movement

The Purpose of this study is to analyze the the syllabus of social studies for the 6th grade as a political text in the context of reconceptualism movement. In this general framework of the thesis, it has been tried to determine which political views are behind the 6th grade social studies syllabus by examining the social studies syllabus, class and student workbook, teacher's guide book, teachers and experts' opinions. In this study in which qualitative research design was used, as well as interview with teachers and experts, document analysis and critical analystical method have been used. In the first part of the study, the 6th grade social studies syllabus, students' workbook and teacher's guidance book have been examined by analysis method. According to the research findings, entrepreneurship qualifying neoliberalism in the data resources, fundemental rights and freedoms, findings directing company language have been reached. On the other hand, the findings with regard to the cultural difference qualifying nationalism and militarism have been found. In the second part of the study, interviews with 16 teachers through the semi structured interview have been made. They were analyzed by research findings and critical discourse anaysis. In the interviews with the teachers, the teachers emphasized the importance of skills of the students for entrepreneurship and the development of trade. According to the findings of the interviews that have been made with nine experts in the three fields of the study, most of the experts are not impartial in the social studies syllabus, student workbook, and textbooks in terms of policy.
