Abstract (EN)
Normal Immunoglobulin Values In Healthy Children Without Newborn Period AIM: Immunoglobulins are an important element of the adaptive immune system that are produced against antigens in plasma cells and have a specific association with antigens. In order for the immunoglobulins to show their functions in the immune response, their levels should be sufficient and for this, their normal values should be known first. Determination of normal immunoglobulin values will guide the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of immunodeficiency diseases. In our study, it was aimed to determine the IgG, IgA and IgM levels in healthy children and the reference values specific to our region. METHODS: Inclusion criteria for the study were 200 healthy children aged 1 month to 18 years, with no known history of chronic disease, no suspected infection, no drug use, no congenital disease or anomaly, and consent for the study. Venous blood samples from the patients were studied in the Medical Microbiology Laboratory by nephelometry method in accordance with the instructions. RESULTS: The 200 children included in our study were divided into 10 groups according to their age groups. Data obtained by age groups, with 95% reference range, lower and upper limits: 1-3 months IgG: 45,72-677,11; IgA: 0-36, IgM: 2,78- 63,58; 4-6 months IgG: 141,42-825,52; IgA: 0-53,36; IgM: 11,56-89,45; 7-12 months IgG: 236,02-972,82; IgA: 0-72,26, IgM: 19,59-114,57; 13-24 months IgG: 328,97-1118,46; IgA: 0-93,9, IgM: 26,48-138,56; 25-36 months IgG: 419,70- 1261,89; IgA: 2.29-119,23; IgM: 31,87-161,04; 4-5 years IgG: 507,68-1402,57, IgA: 13.24-149.16, IgM: 35,37-181,64; 6-8 years IgG: 592,34-1539,92, IgA: 29,73- 184,63; IgM: 36.61-199.98; 9-11 years IgG: 673,13-1673,42; IgA: 52,67-226,55, IgM: 35,21-215,67; 12-16 years IgG: 749,51-1802,49, IgA: 82,99-275,84, IgM: 30,79-228,35 mg/dl were found. CONCLUSION: Our study provided data for normal serum IgG, IgA, and IgM values in healthy non-neonatal children. Immunoglobulin values in healthy children have been studied in a small number of different places and clinics, and obtaining data from our region is important in terms of diagnosis, follow-up and treatment indications of immunodeficiencies. It is thought that our study can be one of the original and reliable reference sources for our country. Keywords: Child, immunoglobulin, immune system
