Abstract (EN)
Objective: With this study, it's aimed to compare the effect of female voice, male voice lullaby and white noise on the initiation of breastfeeding in newborns with the thought that soothing and relaxing effect of white noise which is similar to intrauterine sounds will ease the adaptation of newborn to extra uterine life. Method: Randomized controlled experimental study is performed in Tokat State Hospital (03.12.2018-30.07.2019). The population of the study consisted of term newborn babies (N=917) born in the Hospital between the dates scheduled. The sample is formed by newborns that is randomized and divided into 4 groups [Lullaby sing by a woman (n = 40) Lullaby sing by a man white noise (n=40) and a control group where no application is performed (n=40)] (n=160). Data is collected with "Mother and Baby Identification Information Form", "LATCH Breastfeeding Diagnostic Scale", music player and portable speaker, decibel meter, White Noise CD and lullaby CDs are used. The data obtained is evaluated using percentage distribution in SPSS 19 package program, mean, chi-square test, t-test in independent and dependent groups, variance analysis, correlation, regression analysis. p<0.05 is accepted for the significance level of statistical tests. Results: Newborn babies in (experimental) and control group listening to White noise, male voice and female voice lullaby, when it's compared 24 hours after birth LATCH Breastfeeding Diagnostic Scale scores ; The difference between the mean breastfeeding scores of the newborns in the experimental group (LSW=6,90±1,75(b),LSM=7,45±1,48(bc),WN=8,20±1,81(c)), compared to the control group is (5,15±2,38(a)) found to be statistically significant (p<0.05). The group listening White noise is found to be significantly different from the other experimental groups(p<0.05). Conclusion: It is determined that listening to lullaby and white noise increased the score of initiating the breastfeeding in experimental groups compared to the control group, and the soothing and relaxing effect of white noise is found to be the most effective method which supports the initiating of the breastfeeding.
