Abstract (EN)
The first rise of crude oil prices in 1970?s brought up renewable energy, which had lost its importance because oil has been a global product in industrialapplications, to the international public opinion. Since this period, rise of energyprices and negative ecological effects which are caused by increasing globaltemperature based on fossil energy (oil, natural gas, coal) in front, lay thegroundwork for development of renewable energy sources like sun, wind, geothermal, hydroelectricity (hydraulic), biomass and the others (wave, tideetc.) both in consumption and in new technologies. At this point, especially European Union (EU) countries have seenrenewable energy as an instrument in order to decrease energy dependency?sratio, to secure energy supply and to prevent sudden global climate change. InTurkey also, both the EU accession process and increase on the share of fossilenergy, predominantly oil and natural gas import on energy consumption, putclearly the importance of renewable energy sources for Turkey. In the study;Turkey and the EU?s approaches on renewable energy sources are analysed ascomparatively; in this basic, the reflection of Turkey?s performance from thepast and today to the future and different political solutions are searched.
