Abstract (EN)
It is necessary to maintain the balance between production and consumption in interconnected power systems in order to provide synchronization conditions. Since the balance in question changes due to the dynamic nature of the power system, the frequency of the system should be kept under constant control. A controller process called load frequency control (LFC) is required in order to damp the fluctuations that occur in system frequency and tie-line power changes as soon as possible and to keep them at the specified reference value. Due to the increase in the use of renewable energy sources (RES) such as Wind Energy System (WES) and Solar Energy System (SES) and the variable output power of these sources, the LFC process in power systems is becoming more complex. In this thesis, a cascade controller named PI-(1+DD) has been proposed for LFC in two-area thermal power system consisting of renewable energy sources such as WES and SES. Heuristic algorithms such as Honey Badger Algorithm (HBA), Gorilla Troops Optimization (GTO) and Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) have been used to determine the controller parameters. The performances of the controller and algorithms have been tested under different operating conditions such as variable load demand, WES/SES generation and system parameter variation. The results were compared with the results of the other methods in the literature. From the results obtained, it has been seen that the designed PI-(1+DD) controller provides significant improvements compared to other methods in terms of overshoot value and settling time of system frequency and tie-line power changes. In this thesis, HBA, GTO and GWO algorithms have been proposed as alternative solution methods for the solution of the LFC problem.
