The transformation and challenges of local press in the process of digitalization: A case study of Düzce province

This thesis analyzes the digital transformation processes of Düzce's local press and their impact on these processes. First, the concepts of press, local press, and Turkish local press are discussed. Second, the concept of digitalization and its dissemination process are outlined. Another section deals with the history and development of Düzce's local press. Finally, the study analyzes how the digital transformation process is experienced in Düzce's local press, what strategies are pursued, and what challenges are encountered. This study conducted face-to-face interviews to explore local press organizations' efforts to adapt to digital transformation and the challenges they face. Strategic steps were recommended, including strengthening technological infrastructure, conducting digital audience analysis and targeting, fostering collaborations and partnerships, improving education and awareness, and innovating content and experiences to help local presses succeed more in the digital transformation process. In conclusion, Düzce's local press is facing difficult times in the face of technological advances in print media and is striving to adapt to the digital environment to maintain its presence. Although various strategies have been developed to adapt to the digital transformation process, more advanced steps are needed. The recommendations presented in this study can help the local press strengthen its position in the digital world. However, each local press organization must determine its strategies according to its needs and resources. This study aims to contribute to researchers, media professionals, and local press organizations interested in the digital transformation process of Düzce's local press. The local press of Düzce should constantly update itself and be open to innovation to meet the demands of the digital age. It is recommended that future studies focus on investigating this process in more detail and evaluating the effectiveness of different strategies.
