Local culture and corelation with architecture case study: Cengiz Bektaş

In this thesis, we examine the universal principles introduced by the modern architecture, ?international style? emerged as a result of the widespread use of these principles, along side the conception of the regionalist approaches developed against the idea of the international style, their spread and various regionalist approaches. The formal approaches emerged in this context and their development in the consumption culture are pointed out. In this work the contributions of the regional culture and the geography are evaluated and also ?the critical regionalism? developed by Frampton is examined and compared with the point of view based on the principles developed by Cengiz Bektaş in Turkey. In this context, Cengiz Bektaş?s projects are taken as important references and the main theme presented in the thesis is discussed over these projects.
