Abstract (EN)
The Right to Local Self-Government in Turkey in the Light of the European Charter of Local Self-Government As an international treaty, the European Charter of Local Self-Government denotes right and ability of the organs of local authorities which are democratically constituted to regulate and manage substantial share of public affairs under their responsibility and in the interests of local population (Art.3.1.). This recognition, however, paves the way to an unending discussion among the jurists of national and international law as well as for the experts of other fields of social sciences regarding the normative aspect of the right. Main focus of this academic work is to look into the justiciability question of the relevant right in Turkey in the light of the Charter and its application in member states from a comparative perspective. Keywords: decentralisation, local self-government, right, European Charter of Local Self-Government, justiciability
