The effect of local goverment services on individual satisfaction and voting: The example of Mamak

This study examines the effect of satisfaction with local government services on voting behavior within the scope of Mamak district of Ankara province. For this reason, a scale was created by combining the powers, duties and responsibilities in the municipal laws and the services of Mamak Municipality and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality. In line with the 2014 and 2019 local administration general elections, the two political parties that received the highest number of votes in three selected neighborhoods were taken as a criterion. Two neighborhoods where these two political parties received the most votes compared to each other and one neighborhood where the two political parties received close votes were selected. The satisfaction of individuals in these three neighborhoods was analyzed with quantitative methods and compared with the results of the local government general elections. By comparing the service satisfaction of individuals with the rate of votes received through the survey study, the effect of service satisfaction on voting behavior of voters was examined. The effect of service satisfaction on voting behavior was tested with regression analysis. As a result of the analysis, it was seen that only service satisfaction was not effective in voting behavior.
