A qualitative research on the concept of innovation in local governments: The sample of smart urbanism

The concept of "innovation" and related investigations mostly bring in the field of private sector. Taking account of the local authorities, research on the concept of innovation has been observed to be limited. This study is researched the concept of innovation which enables the problems are accurately revealed and the creation of the solutions efficiently and it is focused on positive returns to local authorities by mentioning the types of innovation and therelationship with other concepts. In the last chapter, the definition of the smart urbanization concept implemented within the framework of innovation in local authorities is described and it is mentioned the municipalities that have successfully implemented the smart urbanization projects and their projects in our country. Furthermore, this study is aimed at comprehensive promotion of projects within the score of the smart urbanization, detailing innovative activities realized in local authorities.
