Abstract (EN)

Objective: Social change that occurs by increasing the elderly population in worldwide and change of demographic structure, makes the policies about elder ages compulsory. Active aging policies that offering an opportunity as health, participation and security to people who individuals in the aging process, are approach that seeks to find solutions to the problem and letting people to be successful in aging. In this context, the aim of this study is to determine the initiatives in the field of active aging and to contribute to the literature in this field by examining the activity reports submitted by the metropolitan municipalities Method: In this study, contents analysis was used in accordance with the purpose of the study. Activity plans of metropolitan municipalities were examined in terms of services that performed and specified objectives including health, participation and security contexts.Services specified in the municipal reports that under whichever titles are collecting the findings are given under the same heading. Results: When the services offered by the municipalities are examined, it is observed that there is a large number of nursing home services. In addition to these services, there is also an increase in home care services, as health services and as well as services for improving the physical environment. Conclusion: This study shows that local governments have been shown to provide various services to aging population, but these services are not yet sufficient for the rapidly growing elderly population. Health and security services are the most common services that local municipalities provide. On the other hand, in participation dimension, courses is covering a big area but yet these services must be diversified to increase people's active attendence to daily activities.
