Abstract (EN)
In this study, the position of localization applications in Turkey is questioned. In order to determine this position, the views of the company managers in the translation sector and students in Department of Translation Studies/ Department of Translation and Interpretation were consulted and the weights of localization practices in translation curriculum were examined. For the realization of these goals, students in Department of Translation and Interpreting Studies/ Department of Translation and Interpretation and company managers were asked questions via questionnaires and the responses were evaluated by the SPSS program. To determine the position of the localization courses within the curriculum, information about their curriculum is taken from universities in Turkey that have Department of Translation and Interpreting Studies/ Department of Translation and Interpretation with the help of their web pages. Departments that have localization courses were identified in the curriculum and the ECTS values of the courses were determined within the general translation education program. Within the thesis qualitative and quantitative research methods were used to evaluate both the results of the questionnaire and the data required in the curriculum analysis. At the end of these studies; it has come to the conclusion that localization has become a very important field that the translation tools used for localization in this field are also so important, and that even without these tools localization applications cannot be done. The translation industry expects translation students to be competent to use localization and translation technologies. The students in the translation department were also aware of the importance of this field, but the information about this topic was inadequate. Another result is that university and sector cooperation will be very useful when localization training is given. It is anticipated that data obtained from this study will be able to guide the translation training institutions while preparing their curriculum about the course of localization and translation technologies.
