The effect of mycorrhiza, iron and zinc applications on yield and agronomic characters in peanut (Arachis hypogea L.)

Abstract (EN)

Objective: It was aimed to determine the effects of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, iron and zinc applications on yield and agricultural characteristicsin peanuts (Arachis Hypogea L.). Materials and Methods: Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi complexwith Glomus genus was inoculated on peanut seed cv. NC-7 before planting. At the stage of flowering beginning, two different foliar fertilizers containing iron and zinc were applied. The experiment was arranged in Split-Split Plot Design with 4 replicationsin the farmer's field in Çona village in Osmaniye province during the 2020 production season. Results: It was determined that the difference between AMF applications in terms of flowering days, seed yield, seed/pod rate, seed filling ratio and harvest index was significant. AMF x Fe interaction was found to be significant for gynophore formation period and pod yield. The differences between AMF, Fe and Zn applications were found to be significant in terms of pod number per plant, seed number ratio and maturity days. AMF x Fe interaction and Zn application for single plant yield and AMF x Fe and AMF x Zn interactions for hundred seed weightwere significant. It was determined that the combination of AMF, Fe and Zn increased seed number by 85.0%, single plant yield by 115.34%, hundred seed weight by 12.31%, seed yield by 65.80% and pod yield by 69.18% compared to the control. In addition, an earliness of 15.06% for flowering days, 9.16% for gynophore formation time and 10.0% for maturity days was achieved. Conclusion: It was concluded that it would be beneficial to use AMF, Fe and Zn applications for an efficient peanut cultivation.
