Perceptions on Turkish culture of settled foreigners in Antalya

Abstract (EN)

In this study, Antalya-one of the most important tourism cities in Turkey-has been selected as the study area. Being an important tourism market brand in the world, as well as in Turkey, Antalya is preferred by emigrants who want to live in different countries other than their own country. In the study, as focusing on the effects over the city's social, cultural, and economic structure, the reason why the settled foreigners prefer the city and their thoughts and satisfaction levels about Antalya and Turkey were investigated. Surveys of 232 people have been carried out within the scope of the research. These surveys were subjected percentage and frequency analysis. In the analysis of the data obtained from the questionnaires, SPSS 16 Package Statistical Program was used. One of the most striking findings as a result of the analysis of data, it is obtained that although the resident foreigners were generally satisfied with living with the local community, but dissatisfied with the legal services. The sea, sand, sun and the natural beauty of the city were examined as the most effective motive to prefer Antalya as a living city. Also it is examined that the emigrants complain about the slow and long legal proceedings, problems arising from transactions and lack of public officials that know foreign languages.
