Abstract (EN)
Installation, unlike any other traditional art trends, is an interactive art type that makes use of locational features and so, eliminates barriers between audience and the artwork. The origin of the art approach performed indoor and outdoor is based on Kurt Schwitters with Marcel Duchamp's ready-made objects. This art type originated first in the 20th Century and has interacted with the disiplines of conceptual art, performance, video, audio and architecture in contemporary art. Today, it is one of the most widely used forms of art production. Sarkis Zabunyan is also one of the exceptional artists who applies this common but difficult sense of art successfully with his different technics and methods. Correlating the location phenomenon in installation with the memory metaphors created by him and time concept, he had the installation gain a new meaning and philosophical dimension. The artist, who separated from other artists with these features, and resound in the international art platform with installations in new contexts, whose usage of water, color, light, sound, trace elements in spatial and temporal paradigms has been studied. According to art periods, his diversifying trends, metaphors, concepts and the special terms that he has bring into art terminology have been examined in details. Inspiration sources that have emerged in his works and exhibitions have been evaluated within the framework of influence and interaction, and it has been determined that the created stratification has been based on the principle of 'Art Total'. While establishing one of the most solid bridges between contemporary French art and contemporary Turkish art affirmed that he was involved in multicultural and multisocial environments, it also emphasized that his artistic attitude has a universal language.
