Abstract (EN)

The production of products produced from boron compounds with oxides, having echonomical value, is very limeted in our country. As it was thought that the production of ferroboron is important for our country, which has great amount of boron resorcous, the subject of production of ferroboron was choosen for this master thesis. In this thesis, it was investigated the effect of aluminium element in the production of ferroboron by carbothermic methot adding to B2O3, low carbon steel and coil powder mixtures. In the study, the ferroboron was produced under 5 diffrent groups of powder mixtures. In the fist group the powder mixture aluminium was not used and in the other groups the content of aluminium in the powder mixture was increased, gradually. The powder mixtures were melted using an arc melting system that was made in the thesis stdudies and the ferroboron alloys were produced. After production of ferroboron, XRD and XRF analaysis and microstructural investigations with SEM and optical microscopy were performed. As a result, it was seen that aluminium element increased the boron content of the ferroboron produced by carbothermic method. This is related the aluminathermic reaction happening between oxide compounds and aluminium and the heat increas as a result of this reaction.
