Abstract (EN)

Melodram type has been the source of the films that affect the audience for many years. The cinema, which has engaged the masses with its educational and entertaining identity for years, lost its influence over time and left its place to television. It has been seen that the television, which provides the continuity of the melodrama genre through domestic dramas and helps to reinforce the patriarchal ideology dominated by all the mass media, supported the patriarchal ideology and supports the restoration of gender roles. In today's television World, local dramas continue to provide women with familiar indicators of mathernity roles. As part of the study, mathernity roles in domestic dramas are investigated with the discourse analysis in the series "WOMAN". Keywords: Melodram, Turkish Cinema, Gender, Patriarchy, Domestic Dramas, Mathernity Roles
