Comparison of green flagged eco-schools and normal eco-schools about levels of consciousness of the environment

This study has been made to identify the reflection on students of differences in terms of education and training between eco-schools which won the green flag and which haven?t received the green flag yet.In the first section of the research, the state, aim, importance, limititations and assumptions of the research have been given.At the second part of the research under the headlines of environment and environmental education; it was focused on about environmental problems, the solutions of these problems, the environmental education in hand and must be given, eco-schools project brings to students about the environment.In the third section, model of the research, globe and sample, data collection and analysis have been described.At the fourth part of the research; the results of a survey were evaluated that was applied at eco-schools which won the green flag and which haven?t received the green flag yet. Research schools are green flagged METU College, Gülen Muharrem Pakoğlu Primary School and non green flagged (normal schools) Kurtuluş and Hamdullah Suphi Primary Schools. The developed survey was applied to students at 8 th class and with this survey we determined student? s interest in environmental issues, the degree of success of environmental education in hand.As a result; it was decided that the students in eco-schools which won the green flag; know informations of basic environmental and actuel issues, according to students in eco-schools which haven?t received the green flag. But in two types schools, environmental education and awereness were inadequate.Key Words: Environment, Environmental Education, Eco-School, Green Flagged Eco-School.
