Abstract (EN)
Focusing on the globally accepted LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) evaluation system in the thesis study, which aims to determine the effects of green building evaluation systems (GBRS) on construction waste and construction waste management (CWM); Turkey, which is in the top 10 according to the LEED assessment, and Germany and Spain, which are member states of the European Union, were examined for comparison. In this context, within the scope of LEED's New Construction (NC) certified project type, a total of 375 projects in Turkey, Germany and Spain for LEED 2009/v3; For LEED v4, a total of 51 projects in Turkey, Germany and Spain were examined. The results of the examination on the buildings that have been certified within the scope of three countries were analyzed and examined using the Python program. The performance of construction waste was researched and compared with the scores obtained from the credits related to construction waste from LEED 2009/v3 certified projects. In this comparison, the construction waste performance of the examined projects' construction waste related loans at different certification levels was measured and evaluated. Accordingly, no significant difference was found at the country level in the scores of platinum-level projects regarding construction waste. However, the size of this difference between countries increases when projects have lower certification levels. This shows that the construction waste performance of the projects is taken into consideration at the platinum level. In order to determine the possible reasons behind these statistical analysis results, a semi-structured interview technique was conducted with 25 green building consultants in Turkey. In the study, it was concluded that green building evaluation systems in Turkey need an appropriate and integrated economic, legal, technical, policy, social and technological context to achieve their goals related to construction waste.
