Abstract (EN)
The environmental problems that are rapidly increasing with uncontrolled consumption and the growing variety of environmental problems are getting bigger every day. It is also not possible that the natural resources we have consumed can be returned. One of the solutions for achieving this is "philosophy of sustainability". The implementation of the philosophy of sustainability in buildings is the green buildings built with integrated building design approach. In the thesis, focusing on sustainable production and consumption agreement and minimizing the harmful effects of vital activities, focusing on the two essential elements of life and water and energy. In this context, buildings that consume the vast majority of our resources are addressed. The concepts of "integrated building design" and "green building", which are the applications of sustainability in the buildings, are introduced. The similarities and differences of the certificates with each other are compared by drawing attention to the categories of green building certification systems. Within the scope of the thesis, it has been pointed out that the water should be used efficiently by drawing attention to the situation in the world. The methods and techniques that increase the water productivity in the cities are mentioned and the contribution of the rainwater harvest to the water productivity is emphasized. In the study, determinations were made about the energy consumption points and the energy loss-leaks of the buildings. Later, energy efficiency enhancement methods and techniques were mentioned in the buildings. The buildings emphasize the most energy-efficient climate systems. In the last part of the thesis, engineering works have been done to increase energy efficiency which is the focal point. For this purpose, a "green building concept" was applied to a building on the Yalova University campus. Studies have been undertaken to apply sustainable methods and techniques related to water and energy for the considered building.
