Abstract (EN)

Aim: The aim of this study is to determine whether there is a relationship between adult individuals' food label reading status, sustainable nutrition, and quality of life. Methods: This descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted with adults aged 18-35 in the Pazaryolu district of Erzurum province between January 10, 2025, and June 25, 2025. To mitigate the risk of data loss, 400 participants were recruited. Data were analyzed using SPSS for Windows 22. Results: The analysis results showed that there were positive and low-level significant relationships between sustainable and healthy nutritional behaviors and food label reading attitudes, physical quality of life, and mental quality of life (p<0.05). There was also a positive and significant relationship between physical and mental quality of life. No significant relationship was found between the age variable and scale scores (p>0.05). The model explained 9.2% of the variance for physical quality of life and 10.5% for mental quality of life. Both variables positively predicted both dimensions of quality of life (p<0.001). The model for the physical dimension was found to be significant (F(2,397)=20.02, p<0.001) and explained 9.2% of the variance (Adj. R²=.087). Both SSBD (β=.17, p<.001) and BEOT (β=.19, p<.001) positively predicted physical quality of life. Similarly, the model for the mental dimension was found to be significant (F(2, 397)=23.18, p<.001) and explained 10.5% of the variance (Adj. R²=.100). Conclusion: The results of this study demonstrate that sustainable and healthy eating behaviors and a commitment to reading food labels have significant and positive impacts on individuals' physical and mental quality of life. The findings demonstrate that eating behaviors play a critical role not only in individual health but also in supporting the multidimensional structure of quality of life.
