Özet (EN)
This study aimed to examine the effects of the frequency of watching mukbang videos, defined as eating broadcasts, on the eating habits and eating behaviors of adult individuals. The study included 82 individuals aged 18-65, who were mukbang video viewers, had no communication difficulties, and could independently make food choices. Research data were obtained using the Personal Information Form, Food Frequency Questionnaire, 24-Hour Dietary Recall, and the Three-Factor Eating Questionnaire (TFEQ-Tr21). Of the participants, 31 reported rarely watching mukbang, 30 occasionally, and 21 frequently. The results of the study indicated that individuals who frequently watched mukbang had significantly higher body weight and Body Mass Index (BMI) values compared to those who rarely watched (p<0.05). A statistically significant difference was found between mukbang viewing frequency and skipping main meals (p<0.05). Frequent viewers of mukbang were more likely to skip main meals (85.71%). Energy, fat, carbohydrate, polyunsaturated fat, vitamin E, and iron intakes of individuals who frequently watched mukbang were significantly higher compared to those who rarely watched (p<0.05). In particular, frequent mukbang viewers showed an increase in the frequency of consumption of pastries, sweets, processed meats, and fast food, while the frequency of consumption of green leafy vegetables and fruits decreased (p<0.05). Although no significant relationship was found between cognitive restraint, emotional eating, and mukbang viewing frequency (p>0.05), a significant association was observed between mukbang viewing and uncontrolled eating; frequent viewers had higher uncontrolled eating scores than rare viewers (p<0.05). The results of the study revealed that with the increase in mukbang viewing frequency, unhealthy eating habits increased, and eating behaviors were disrupted.
