An investigation of early maladaptive schemas and personality traits with fear of COVID-19 and intolerance to uncertainty in adults

In this study, examine the effects of early maladaptive schemas and personality traits of fear of Covid-19 and intolerance of uncertainty in adults was investigated. The sample of the study consists aged 18 and over who use internet form of questionnaires. Personal information form, Young Schema Short Form, Basic Personality Trait Scale, Fear of Covid-19 Scale and Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale were asked to the participants. People filled out questionnaire appropriately on internet. Data analysed with SPSS 22.00. Interpretations and examinations evaluates significance level of p< .05. Frequency analyzes were made according to demografic variables and informations. Using MANOVA, Pearson Product Moment Correlation Analysis, Multiple Regression Analysis determine the relationship between variables. According to results, fear of Covid-19 and intolerance of uncertainty differ according to socio-demographic variables. There is positive relationship between early maladaptive schemas, intolerance of uncertainty and fear of Covid-19. Self sacrifice schema is positively associated with agreeableness personality trait. Early maladaptive schemas and personality traits predict fear of Covid-19. Early maladaptive schemas and personality traits predict intolerance of uncertainty. The results were discussed in line with findings and suggestions were made.
