The educational conditions of the individuals, living in orphanege children's home: An example of İstanbul

The purpose of this research is to reveal the problems of the individuals, living in the orphanage, during their social lives, at their schools and in the orphanage. As it is aimed to determine the existing situation, it is a descriptive research. For the research, a questionnaire which is about social issues, educational issues, family and issues that can be experienced in the orphanage was prepared with a social service specialist, a psychologist and an individual in orphanage. The survey form has been applied to 113 individuals, living in Halkalı Male Orphanage, Zeytinburnu Male Orphanage and Atatürk Female Orphanage in İstanbul. Survey results were analyzed with the help of packed program SPSS 13. Data, statistical methods was tabulated in two ways as the results in general and gender and interpreted. As a result of this survey, the data about the problems which the individuals think they will encounter in their social lives, their school achievements, their expectations for the future and their thoughts about the conditions of the orphanages, has been obtained. For the healty grouth of the individuals, all kinds of physical and educational opportunites are provided by the dorm director but in spite of these advanteges, it has been observed that a large amount of individuals' school achievements are not in the desires level.
