Investigation of the effect of authorized obligation status on the customs actions of the companies in Turkey

The volume of foreign trade between countries tends to increase daily with the globalizing world and the globalization of companies. To make international trade more reliable and faster, the "Authorized Economic Operator Status" (AEO) application has been developed within the framework of the "SAFE Frame Work of Standards" (SAFE) standards of the World Customs Organization (WDO) and certain facilities are provided to companies with this status. In this study, the differences in terms of time, cost, and foreign trade volumes according to the sector they serve in customs procedures and foreign trade volumes due to the application of the Authorized Economic Operator and the simplifications that the companies that have the status have been analyzed with independent T-tests. According to the results of the analysis, it has been understood that there is a decrease in the customs procedures in export, import, and transit transactions according to the foreign trade volume of the companies. The import and export transactions time is shortened accroding to the sector it serves, however, there is a difference in the duration of the transit transactions according to the foreign trade volume. It has been understood that the costs of the companies in customs transactions according to their foreign trade volumes have decreased in export and import transactions. The costs of import and export transactions have decreased again in terms of the sector they serve, but they are indecisive about reducing the cost of transit transactions. It has been understood that there is an increase in export and import volumes according to the foreign trade volumes of the companies, but they are undecided about the increase in the transit volumes, there is an increase in the import and export volumes in terms of the sector they serve. However, there is no increase in the transit volume in the industrial sector, and they are indecisive about the increase in the service sector.
