Abstract (EN)

Masonry buildings constitute a large part of the existing building stock in many countries around the world and in our country. The masonry structures, which are not prepared in accordance with any regulations in rural areas in our country and continue to be used as such, constitute a large part of the historical artifacts from past to present. These structures, which are not strong enough to withstand earthquakes, need to be strengthened. For this purpose, plastic composite reinforcement was applied to strengthen the walls in this experimental master's study. The reason for choosing this material, which is widely used in the field of reinforcing different derivatives; it is easy to work, affordable, easy to access, light, and has the ability to displace due to its structure. In Iskenderun Technical University Civil Engineering laboratories, 80 * 80 cm 9 brick walls with the same specifications were built. One of these walls was left bare and became a witness sample. 8 brick wall samples were reinforced with 2 different types of plastic composite reinforcement in different parameters. Ten brick wall samples were subjected to diagonal loading test and load and displacement values were obtained. With this data obtained; Their maximum load carrying capacity, energy absorption capacity, their displacement at the time of fracture and their shear strength were obtained by graphs and investigations were made. It has been observed that plastic composite reinforcement gives positive results in strengthening masonry structures.
