The general featwe of hospital infections, extensively taking place in microorganism which has multi-drug resistance, high mortality and morbidity rate and increased cost of treatment. Acinetobacter baumannnii is also a multi-resistant microorganism very common in hospital infections. Acinetobacters that are pretty resistant to environmental conditions, when the patients are infected, ıt is considered that strains in around create a resowce for infection. This study has been done fort he comparison of Acinetobacter strains which were isolated from various non-living environments in Intensive Care Unıt and strains that isolated from patients and also when bacterial contamination was experienced, ıf the resowce of infection is a reason of environmental areas or not. A. baumannii strains which are isolated from various samples that were sent to our hospital?s intensive care unit labratory in the date between January 2010 and June 2011 were studied. In isolation of A. baumannii from a patient, swab samples were taken from various areas of intensive health care unit. In defining of A. baumannii strains and in making antibiotic sensitivity tests, Vitek 2 (bioMerieux, France) identification system was used. rep-PCR method DiversiLab was used in genotyping. In the tıme of gathering sample, from 61 patients 92 samples and from 8 samples isolated from environment totally 100 samples of A. baumannii strains were found. A. baumannii strains has been isolated commonly or frequently in tracheal aspirate sample among the patient?s samples (52%). All of strains that were started from clinical samples were found as multi-resistant and the most effective antibiotics are colistin (99%), tobramycin (94%). In genotypic analysis of strains, ıt was realized that different samples that belong the the same patient have different genotype and ıt was found that strains isolated from environment (except for one of then) is the same with most of strain that were isolated from patients. In avoiding from hospital infections, the most important concept is to apply control precautions properly. The disinfection and decontamination procedures should be made properly why environmental surfaces may be a reason for A. baumannii strains and when we face with a common infection which is called epidemic, the genotype analysis of origins and resowce investigation should be made.
