Abstract (EN)

Investıgatıon Of The Relatıonshıp Between Nutrıtıonal Nutrıtıon And Pressure Wound In Intensıve Care Unıts INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVE: Nutrition is important in many ways in patients treated in the intensive care unit. In patients with nutritional problems or inadequacy, various physiological and psychological problems such as insufficiency in immune system functions, delay in wound healing and decrease in muscle strength, and increased incidence of pressure ulcers may occur. This study was planned to examine the relationship between the nutritional status of the patients hospitalized in the intensive care unit and pressure injuries. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study was carried out with 101 patients who were being treated in the intensive care unit and were followed up for 10 days. "Wound Diagnosis and Follow-up Form" and "Patient Follow-up and Nutritional Status Follow-up Form" were used for data collection. SOFA (Sequential Organ Failure Evaluation Score) and Braden (Pressure Ulcer Risk Diagnosis Form) scores of the patients were calculated. SPSS 22 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) package program was used in the analysis of the data. Frequency distribution and percentage distributions were used for categorical variables, and descriptive statistics were used for numerical variables. In addition, Mann-Whitney U test, which is one of the non-parametric analyzes, and two-factor chi-square analysis were used. RESULTS: The recommended energy requirement was calculated as 1822.90±516.56 kcal, and the recommended amount of nutritional product (hourly) was calculated as 93.40±166.05 ml. With these findings, the success of the patients in reaching the recommended nutritional goal was determined as 21%. Pressure ulcers occurred in 6.9% of the patients followed in the intensive care unit. A significant relationship was found between pressure ulcer formation and feeding route (p<0.05). While the majority of those with wound formation were fed parenterally with 71.4%, the majority of those without wound formation were fed enterally with 72.5%. CONCLUSION: It was concluded that nutritional support is important in intensive care patients, there is a relationship between pressure ulcer formation and nutrition, and especially enteral nutrition should be preferred. Keywords: Nutrition, pressure sore, enteral nutrition, parenteral nutrition, nutritional target.
