Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Institute of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing, Surgical Nursing Program, Master Thesis, Zonguldak, 2022 The research was carried out descriptively/analytically in longitudinal type to determine the prevalence and risk factors of Medical Device-Associated Pressure Injury (MDRPI) in the intensive care unit. The study was conducted in the intensive care unit of a university hospital, which had a high risk of medical device-related Pressure ulcers. The population of the study consisted of all patients treated in the intensive care unit, and the sample consisted of 213 patients who were treated in adult intensive care units for six months and met the inclusion criteria. Data were collected using the Patient Information Form, Wound Monitoring Form, and Jackson/Cubbin Pressure Ulcer Risk Calculation Tool-Turkish Form, Glasgow Coma Scale. The prevalence of medical device-related pressure injury was 28.6% (61/213). Respiratory medical devices accounted for 48.4% (46/95) medical device-related pressure injuries, 14.7% (14/95) foley catheters, 12.6% (12/95) intravenous access devices, 11.6% It was determined that 2 of them (11/95) developed due to gastrointestinal system devices. In the study, it was determined that 70.5% of medical device-associated pressure ınjury developed in the skin and 29.5% in the mucosal membrane, 82.1% of medical device-related pressure injury that occurred on the skin were stage I. The prevalence of medical device-related pressure injuries were found to be relatively high in this study. It is critical that intensive care unit nurses, who encounters medical device-related pressure injury more frequently, take into account the associated factors when caring for their patients and take appropriate preventive measures to reduce the prevalence of medical device-related pressure injury.
