Assessment of experiences of the patients in intensive care units

Özet (EN)

The purpose of this study was to assess the experiences of the patients who discharged from intensive care unit (ICU). This study which is descriptive and cross sectional was conducted with 190 patients who hospitalized ICU at least 24 hours in a university hospital and a public hospital. The data were collected by a demographic questionnaire and the Intensive Care Experience Scale (ICES). Mean±Standard Deviation, Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whitney U were used in statistical analysis. The mean age of patients were 56,6±10,8 (18-65) years, 60% were male. The patients' the mean scores of ICES were found 62,1±5,2 (44,0-78,0). It was found that the means of subscale scores of ICES were respectively 17,7±2,4 (11,0-26,0) from "being aware of the enviroment in ICU", 16,3±1,8 (10,0-20,0) from "pessimistic experiences in ICU", 12,9±2,3 (6,0-19,0) from "remembering experiences in ICU", 15,1±3,0 (5,0-23,0) from "satisfactions levels about care in ICU". The results of this study show that the patients hospitalized in ICU had generally moderate aware of their environment and satisfactions levels about care and their experiences were partially positive.
