Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the care package (CP) developed to prevent pressure injury (PI) in patients in intensive care and to evaluate the effect of the training given to nurses on their knowledge levels and attitudes. This experimental study was carried out in the anesthesia and reanimation intensive care unit of Düzce Atatürk State Hospital. The part with patients was completed with a total of 72 patients, 36 in the control group and 36 in the application group. The occurrence rate of PI was compared between the control group and the application group. In the section about nurses, no sample was selected and all 50 nurses working in intensive care were included in the study. Nurses' knowledge and attitudes about PI before and after the training were compared. Data were analyzed using a statistical program. It was observed that PI occurred at a significantly lower rate (p≤0.05) in the patients in the intervention group (%13.9) compared to the patients in the control group (%38.9).When all patients were evaluated, patients with edema, low albumin value, lower mean blood pressure and it was observed that PI occurred at a significantly lower rate in patients with lower Braden Pressure Injury Risk Assessment Scale (BPIRAS) scores (p≤0.05). Pre-training and post-training for nurses working in intensive care to evaluate their knowledge and attitudes towards preventing PI. As a result of the evaluation of test and post-test scores, the mean scores of those who received training were found to be significantly higher (p≤0.05). As a result of this study, it was seen that edema, skin turgor, hemoglobin, blood pressure average, and low BPIRAS score were important risk factors for the occurrence of PI. It was determined that CP, which consists of evidence-based practices, is effective in preventing PI. It was observed that the PI training given to nurses working in intensive care increased their knowledge and attitudes
