An analysis on poverty and corruption

The world order in which globalization and poverty are experienced has become an increasingly important concept. Globalization, along with a long historical process, has gained momentum within the last few decades, and with the development of information and communication technologies, its acceleration has led to profound and radical changes via astonishing and radical transformations, especially in the political, cultural, social and economic domains. Within the framework of this new world order, the radical change of economic structure, the increase of the economic transactions and the activities of the units, as well as the concentration of international political, economic, financial, social and cultural relations and the alignment with extrovert marketing have come to the forefront. Corruption has severe effects on economic and social development, and motivations that cause complicated social phenomena and distorted behavior, which are subject to broad institutional, judicial, social and economic conditions, are multifaceted. Until the 1980s, corruption was mainly a topic of political, sociological, historical and criminal law research and has recently come to the forefront in the field of economics. Theoretical arguments have been made for the effects of corruption on economic growth through misappropriation of resources due to lower investment levels, lower investment quality, higher levels of indirect taxation and distorted incentives. This work aims to present a reassessment of the current literature on the effects on economic development in the context of corruption and poverty. Particular emphasis is given to presenting and discussing opinions derived from empirical research and contradicting the past findings. Keywords: Corruption, poverty, economic growth, Panel GMM.
