Poverty, which is as old as human history, is one of the most important agenda items of the development process. Today, which is an important indicator of economic inequalities in explaining inequality of income distribution arrived when the dimension of the state has mandated the need to intervene in the distribution of income. The aim of this study is to determine the impact of social assistance expenditures on the non-poverty of the period which is subject to analysis. For this purpose, the relationship between poverty and social benefits was examined with the ardl border test approach for short and long term data from 1987-2014 and the direction of the relationship between these two variables was determined with the VM Granger causality test. According to the findings, it was concluded that poverty and other control variables used in the study were moving together in the long run and economic growth and social assistance expenditures were reduced by increasing household consumption expenditures.
