Concept of democracy in the Yön journal

The subject of this article is to examine the concept of democracy in the ?YÖN? Journal. Turkey was moved to multi-party life in 1946, the RPP (Republican People?s Party) transfered the power of the government to Democrat Party (DP) as a result of the 1950 elections.What happened in the ten years ongoing ruling of DP was faced to face Turkey to a military intervention in the date of May 27, 1960. As a result of military intervention, Turkish Armed Forces had established a council to draft a new constitution. The 1961 Constitution which was established by this council paved the way of the political struggle in Turkey, especially the way of the left movement.The YÖN Journal has been the most important emerging movement in this process. It directed the political life with various names from December 21 1961 until the end of March 12 1971 military intervention.It was always evaluated as a ?military? movement in its broadcasting period with its viewpoint to democracy, the relationship with the military organizations in the Turkish Armed Forces and the posed ideas for the attainment style to the government. The main purpose of our study is to reflect the truth to what extent the proposed ideas about the YÖN movement.For this purpose; the establishment of YÖN Journal, its publication date, the political identity of its founders, its relationships with the other political groups, the articles in YÖN Journal which has been published 222 times and DEVRİM Journal which has been published 79 times were tried to explore with considering the political relationships of the representatives of this movement.
