Abstract (EN)
This thesis was conducted using a mixed method to assess the burnout experienced by manager nurses by their subordinates. The study was conducted with charge nurses and the nurses they manage at three hospitals within the province of Balıkesir. In the quantitative phase of the study, the burnout levels of the charge nurses were assessed using the Short Form Burnout Scale. In the qualitative phase, in-depth individual interviews were conducted using a semi-structured interview form with 28 nurses managed by 31 charge nurses with high burnout levels. Ethical approval and institutional permissions were obtained for the study and data were collected face to face. Data were analyzed using frequency and percentage distribution, descriptive statistics, and content analysis using the MAXQDA program. The study revealed that nearly half of the charge nurses had high burnout levels; The nurses' opinions were grouped under three main themes: "evaluation of burnout", "effects of charge nurse burnout" and "recommendations for preventing charge nurse burnout." According to the nurses, burnout is experienced by both the nurses themselves and the charge nurses themselves. They stated that the burnout experienced by charge nurses has various negative effects on themselves, their subordinates, the patients they care for, and the institution they work in. Furthermore, it was determined that the nurses made recommendations for organizational arrangements to prevent burnout in charge nurses, improving psychosocial support and communication, and ensuring individual and professional development.
