Thesis title: determination of opinions and practices related to time management of manager nurses

Objective: The study were made to determine the ideas and practices of manager nurses' time management. Materials and Methods: Qualitative research design was used in the study. The study was conducted through 46 manager nurses who are work in Dokuz Eylül University Hospital. The sampling of nurses were scheduled to participate as determined by purpose sampling. Sample size in qualitative research can not be determined in advance. In this study was based on the saturation of the data. Interviewers were selected on a voluntary basis without being the reserve units who have worked at least ten years from the charge nurse. Research using qualitative interview techniques, in the form of in-depth interviews, and data were collected through semi-structured interview form. Verbal consent of the participants were taken as voice recordings and their written consent was obtained in the form of informed consent. Findings: Codes and themes were created by analyzing the voice recordings obtained from the interviews individually. These are the themes; It was gathered under four headings as "Effective use of time", "Applications to be made for effective time management", "Ability to cope with time pressure", "Planning according to urgency and importance of works". Those who participated in the research expressed that they were not able to use time effectively due to time pressure. Administrative nurses can not use time effectively; they have argued that it is about intensive work temposu, lack of personnel, not to say no, accepting special requests, flowing quickly of time and time pressure. As regards time management, it was determined that some of the executive nurses were unable to comply with the plan that they had planned for the day but have done so due to intense and extra work. Results: Manager nurses effectively stated that they could not use their time. When the reasons given as reasons for not being able to use time effectively are evaluated; it was concluded that these reasons were the indication that they could not manage the times of the executive nurses.
