Abstract (EN)
Leadership guides the contemporary business life. In the background of businesses lies the vision of leaders that offer innovative solutions and provide social transformation paths. In the study, leadership was examined in the context of employee performance. The impact of the leadership style and how the leadership style influenced employee performance was examined in the Istanbul branches of a cargo company using a survey with its employees. The Multi-Factor Leadership Scale was used to measure the level of leadership and three-dimensional employee performance scale developed by Linda Koopmans (2014) was used for scale of employee performance. The types of both scales were five-level Likert. In addition, demographic variables such as employees' age, gender, education and other variables such as experience and position was also included in the questionnaires as controls. The leadership styles of managers were factored into transformative, with transaction-based and passive-declining leadership sub-dimensions; Employee performance has been factored into task performance, contextual performance and business behavior sub-dimensions that have the opposite effect. As a result of the linear regression analysis by taking education, gender, age, sector experience, working time and position in the firm as control variables, it was found that transformer and transaction based leadership has a positive effect on performance and passive and shy leadership has a decreasing effect on employee performance. The results of the correlation analysis show that although it is not strong, there is a positive and significant relationship between overall performance and overall leadership style.
