The relationship between administrators' humor behaviors and teachers' organizational commitments

The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between the humor behaviors of managers and the organizational commitment levels of teachers. Relational screening model was used in the study. The study universe of the study consists of 312 teachers from 714 teachers working in public secondary schools in the central district of Bolu in the 2020/2021 academic year. As a data collection tool in the research; In order to determine the demographic characteristics of teachers, the personal information form, the "Humor Behaviors Scale" developed by Cemaloğlu, Recepoğlu, Şahin, Daşçı, Köktürk (2012) and the "Organizational Commitment Scale for Teachers" developed by Üstüner (2009) were used. In the analysis of the data, frequency, percentage, Mann Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis test, Spearman's Rho correlation analysis tests were used. According to the results of the research; When teachers' perceptions of the humorous behaviors used by the administrators were examined; It was concluded that the administrators used the generative social humor style the least, used the sarcastic and rejectionist humor style the most, used the non-humor style a lot, used the approving humor style at the medium level and used the humor behavior a lot in the scale bride. It was found that teacher perceptions towards organizational commitment were at a high level across the one-dimensional scale. It was determined that the teachers' perceptions of teachers towards the humor behaviors of the administrators and organizational commitment showed statistically significant differences according to some demographic characteristics. According to the perceptions of teachers, it was found that there was a moderate significant relationship between the humor behaviors of the administrators and the organizational commitment of the teachers in a positive direction. It was concluded that the humorous behaviors of the administrators significantly predicted the organizational commitment of the teachers.
