Abstract (EN)

Considering the changing world conditions with technology, the necessity of keeping up with the market conditions of educational institutions has emerged. The model, known as the on-the-job training model, has taken its place in the curriculum in order to train students who can keep up with the changes, follow the innovations and constantly improve themselves. Students have the opportunity to spend 1 semester of their education process, which is 8 semesters in undergraduate education or 4 semesters in associate education, at the workplace. The aim of the study is to examine the benefits of the "+1 Applied Education Model", which has been used for 10 years in the department of management information systems, in finding a job for students and to make more appropriate academic and sectoral guidance for the future periods. For this purpose, post-graduation employment status and sectoral information were analyzed by data mining methods by using attributes such as gender, AGNO, on-the-job training sector information belonging to the graduates of the Bucak Zeliha Tolunay School of Applied Technology and Business Administration Department of Management Information Systems. For the analysis of the generated data set, classification algorithms such as Support Vector Machines, Naive Bayes, K Nearest Neighbor, Logistic Regression, Artificial Neural Networks and Random Forest were selected using the Orange Data Mining program. In addition, Apriori algorithm was used for Association rules analysis. K Nearest Neighbor algorithm made the most successful estimation in the classification analysis applied by using the features of the students' school periods. It gives an idea about the relationship between the attributes used and employment status. When the results of the association analysis are examined, it has been observed that the majority of the students who had on-the-job training in the public sector could not find a job. It has been observed that the majority of students who had on-the-job training in the IT sector found a job and especially tended towords to the IT sector. Considering the results of this study, suggestions are given in order to guide the students more effectively for those are planning to do on-the-job training more effectively.
