Evaluation of viticulture in Yozgat province

The research was carried out to determine the viticulture situation of Yozgat province. In determining the number of producers participating in the survey, the number of producers in the ÇKS records of the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture was used, and a survey was conducted with 254 producers living in the Central and Sorgun districts of Yozgat, where viticulture is intense and the majority of the number of producers. In the surveys, it was tried to reach the socio-demographic structure of the producers, the land existence, the production methods and basic information about viticulture. According to the results of the survey, it was determined that 94,88% of the producers were male and 5.12% were female, and the average age of the producers was 55.52. When the educational status of the producers was examined, it was determined that 46,46% were high school graduates, 25,20% were secondary school graduates, 24,41% were primary school graduates, associate degree graduates were in 1,18% and the illiterate rate was 0,39%. It has been determined that they have been doing viticulture for an average of 40.15 years and the average age of their vineyards is over 40 years old. It was observed that the producers participating in the survey did not receive any training on viticulture. We think that in order for viticulture in Yozgat to return to its old busy days, first of all, it is necessary to instill a new viticulture culture in the producers. We believe that this can be achieved through trainings, written and visual media methods, and technical trips to regions where viticulture is done more professionally. In addition, it is necessary to prepare incentive projects of provincial district directorates to lay the foundations of modern viticulture in the region, to provide support for the establishment of systems to provide grafted saplings, support and training systems to producers, and to ensure that this system, this production model is adopted and learned through trainings.
