Abstract (EN)
Fossil fuels, that have a large domain in the field of energy in the world, cause current environmental problems specially air pollution and global warming. For this reason, the rapid depletion of fossil energy sources and the fluctuations in prices have led to a shift towards renewable energy sources in the world. Biogas is a renewable energy resource. Since organic wastes are used in biogas production, biogas offers a significant way of elimination of wastes and a source of energy. Animal wastes are the primary source of biogas. In this study, it is aimed to determine the biogas potential of Yozgat province from animal wastes. The data were provided by TUIK (Turkish Statistical Institute) and Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in the study. In Yozgat Province, where is breeding 242 653 cattle, 456 097 sheep and 630 725 poultry in 2021. Annualy, 2,83 million tons wet animal waste are obtained in Yozgat where is breeding cattle, sheep and poultry. These wastes are a big proglem for farms. Biogas production is one of the best methods for the evaluation of waste. In the study conducted with the data of 2021, The amount of biogas that can be produced from animal wastes is calculated as 40,7 million m3/year. Akdağmadeni, Yozgat Central and Sorgun districts have the highest potential among other districts with 6,06, 5,86 and 5,13 million m3 in Yozgat province. The energy equivalent of the biogas produced annually in Yozgat is 924 155 GJ and 22.073 TEP. The electrical energy value that can be obtained from biogas is calculated as 102 683 MWh.
