Özet (EN)

Frequency of coronary artery anomaly in Upper Euphrates BasinOut of the patients who are carried out coronary angiography, %0.6-1.3 patients are detected to have coronary artery anomalies. coronary artery anomalies are usually asemptomatic and detected by chance. However, some anomalies can lead angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, heart failure and sudden death by causing myokardial perfusion defect. The aim of our study is to contribute to the epidemiology data in our country determining the frequency of coronary artery anomaly in our region Upper Euphrates Basin. In our study 6237 patients, 2313 (%37.1) of them being women and 3924 (%62.7) of them being men, who are carried out coronary angiography in Fırat University Faculty of Medicine Cardiology Clinic Catheter Labarotory between January 2005 and December 2007, have been included. Patients who have been determined to have coronary artery anomalies have been divided into classes by using basic anatomic classification system.A total of 247 (%3.9) coronary artery anomalies cases have been determined out of 6237 patients who have been performed coronary angiography. 48 (%0.7) patients have been detected to have absent left main trunk, 21 (%0.3) patients anomalous location of coronary ostium within aortic root, 23 (%0.4) patients anomalous location of coronary ostium outside normal coronary aortic sinuses, 31 (%0.5) patients anomalous origination of coronary ostium from opposite, 101 (%1.6) patients muscular bridge, 23 (%0.4) patients coronary fistulas.Consequently the fact that coronary artery anomalies are seen rarely hides their anatomic and clinical properties. Many cases which are considered to be unimportant clinically may occur with myocardial ischemia, decline life expectancy and even a possible death risk. Coronary artery anomalies are still the most frequent third reason of sudden young deaths. The more information we have, the clearer the importance and results of the coronary artery anomalies will become.Key Words: Coronary artery anomalies, coronary angiography, sudden death
