Abstract (EN)
Aim: The research was carried out to determine the knowledge, attitudes and practices of parents who brought their children to the emergency room with the complaint of high fever in İzmir Menemen State Hospital Emergency Service. Materials and Methods: The research data were collected using the socio- demographic information form and the Turkish version of the Parental Fire Management scale, which was created in line with the literature information. The research was conducted in descriptive and cross-sectional type. The data of the study were obtained from the parents who brought their child to the Izmir Menemen State Hospital Emergency Service with a complaint of high fever between August and December 2022. During this period, 222 parents who applied to the emergency department constituted the sample of the study. Results: The mean age of the parents included in the study was 33.47±3.25. The gender of the children is 57.2% male, 42.8% female, and the average age is 6.10±3.63. 42.3% of the parents stated the child's temperature measurement value at home and 45.9% stated the fever measurement value in the hospital between 38-38.9. 68.9% of the parents were worried about the death of the child in case of fever, 32.4% understood that the child had a fever by touching their skin, 98.2% measured the temperature when they thought that the child had a fever, 43.2% measured the child's temperature from the armpit. they measured with automatic degree, 34.2% of them gave antipyretic medicine as the first application when the fever increased, 54.5% of them applied the warm application to the whole body, 79.3% of them received training on what to do in case of fever in the child, 85.3% of those who received training stated that they received the training from health personnel. Conclusion: In the study, parents of children with fever had high anxiety levels. The average score of fever management of the parents who are university graduates, live in the city, and have a higher income than expenditure was found to be high. On 4 the other hand, the average fever management score of parents with more children was found to be lower. It was found that there was no significant difference between the gender of the parents' children and the average score of the parental fever management scale (p>0.05).
